Day 29
Countdown to Kentucky Round-Up:

A Trip to Dunnville

Today I went to Dunnville, Kentucky.
Quick - trivia question for Kentuckians who own or work on horse farm:
What large, successful equine business is based in Dunnville, KY??
(Hint, it is just south of Liberty.)

Answer: TARTER, maker of high quality corral panels, gates, feeders, rodeo equipment, and a number of other products (in fact a WHOLE LOT of other products)

Tarter -- Kentucky created, Kentucky owned, and holding its own in this economy.. in fact, growing.  That is what I call KENTUCKY PROUD.  And NO, they aren't moving their plant to China. Yahoo, buy local!

It was the first visit there for the KY Horse Council.  We were talking about what KHC does, why Kentucky needed a good Horse Council, and all about Kentucky Round-Up.  I think just your basic corporate sales call, not too unlike what I did when I worked for IBM.  And Travis, who we met with, was friendly and welcoming.  Let's admit it, not all companies - or people - still are REAL after they've hit success.  Totally refreshing.  A good day.

Have to tell you about lunch though.  We stopped at Scott's Family Restaurant in Liberty and made the mistake of NOT taking the soup beans and corn bread on the buffet.  I ordered off the menu and it was a perfectly fine sandwich, but why oh why did I pass up the soup beans?  Still missing them.

See you tomorrow.
